Introducing the Cahoots “House Car” Program

As outlined in our previous post, we here at Cahoots aim to be daring as we achieve our mission of being “uniquely inspiring.” We want to push the boundaries of what is expected from a tech hub by offering unprecedented amenities. We do this to help spark creativity and excitement in our members as they work hard to build Ann Arbor’s emerging tech ecosystem.
So… What better way to do that than with an EV that goes 0–60 in 4.5 seconds?
Starting today, we’re launching an experiment called our House Car program. A few months back, we purchased a Tesla Model 3. Sure, we could’ve easily gone with a less flashy car, but what fits our personality better than an automotive startup making some of the sleekest, fastest, most technically advanced cars out there? It just had to be a Tesla. And it just had to be all-wheel-drive with full autopilot capabilities.
As you might imagine, we faced numerous logistical hurdles (our lawyers have spoken) but we’ve finally got it under control and it’s time to launch the beta! The nitty gritty details on participation requirements are available for Cahoots members here.
The intention behind this program was always to make it easier for our members to commute downtown. We hope access to this car will encourage people to take greener commutes to work. Participating members can reserve time slots to use the car, just like booking a conference room. If you live close enough to walk, bike, scooter or bus, you can do it and rest easy knowing when you need to run out during the day for an errand or appointment, you can just take the Model 3 and go.
Where do you find this car? Well, we’ve partnered with the Ann Arbor DDA on their pilot program for commuter car sharing. As part of this pilot, they’ve allowed us to purchase a reserved space on the lower level of the Washington Street parking deck, right around the corner from Cahoots. Here, you’ll find a dedicated home for the Cahoots house car and a high-speed Tesla charger! We’re excited to work with them to reduce congestion and make commuting downtown greener, easier, and more fun. Together, we will be tracking this program’s impact. We can’t wait to see how many cars we keep out of downtown and how many emissions-free miles our members rack up.
